Poya day
Today was a public holiday for Sri Lanka so nothing is open! No buses run no nothing. So we got a taxi who took us up to the babies orphanage today and the way there the streets were empty! Driving there the weather was terrible it bucketed down the whole way there! The babies cried a lot this morning I think because if the loud rain and thunder. We changed and fed them and I cuddled my favourite girl the whole time. She's actually adorable! She has never cried in the 2 weeks I have been with her and her face and arms are so chubby she's just the cutest thing. I know going back home I'm going to think about her everyday in class. Today was sad because I had to say goodbye to the babies:(( I wanted a photo with the babies so bad but we're not aloud to take photographs so I have I remember there faces in my head. A 3 o'clock our driver picked us up to take us home. Because we were leaving to Adams peak tonight we asked him to stop at supermarket that was open for us to pick up some snacks for the weekend. It was crazy, on our way there there were kids standing with flags waving us down and we pulled over to see all these young school girls handing out free sandwiches. We didn't want any but Sri Lankans don't understand and we got 25 sandwiches given to us. Our driver explained "free food in poya day" for the next 15 km we got waved down being given free ice cream, coffee and biskets and free fruit. It was soo crazy to see! And it was free food. We got home and the rain was still pouring so everyone was inside just chilling. We started thinking about leaving tonght and how bad the weather is and wether we should cancel. The internet was terrible so we couldn't get in contact with the peepz at the beach to see what they had planned. For hours we went back and forth what we wanted to do and then finally decided to leave tomorrow morning instead by catching the train and then if we want to do Adams peak we can do tomorrow night. We managed to get in contact with the beach group and they said they are going to try and come. We all went to bed early because the tuk tuk was picking us up at 7 am to get to the train station.
